How to Download Instagram Highlights
Highlights sit just below a profile's bio as small circular icons, each one a curated collection of Stories a creator chose to keep visible long-term. Unlike regular Stories, Highlights don't expire — which makes them one of the easier Instagram content types to download, since there's no 24-hour countdown to worry about.
What Makes Highlights Different
A Highlight is really just a folder of past Stories, organized under a name the creator chose ("Travel," "Recipes," "Q&A," etc.). Because the creator deliberately kept these visible, they're meant to be seen repeatedly — which also means they're a good source if you're trying to save specific, meaningful content rather than something fleeting.
How to Download a Highlight
1. Open the profile and tap the Highlight circle you want
2. Navigate to the specific slide within that Highlight (each slide is treated separately, same as with regular multi-slide Stories)
3. Tap Share → Copy Link
4. Paste into the downloader, on the Stories tab (Highlights use the same underlying format as Stories)
5. Download
Downloading an Entire Highlight Collection
If a Highlight has many slides and you want to save the whole thing, you'll need to go through each slide individually and copy/download it one at a time — there's currently no single link that captures an entire multi-slide Highlight collection in one download. It's a bit more manual than downloading a single Reel, but each slide only takes a few seconds.
Quality of Highlight Content
Since Highlights are just saved Stories, they carry over whatever quality the original Story had when first posted — Instagram doesn't re-compress or degrade content further just because it's been moved into a Highlight. If the original Story looked good, the Highlight version will too.
Common Situations You'll Run Into
A Highlight with mixed content types — some Highlights combine photos and videos in the same collection. The downloader handles both, but treat each slide as its own separate item to save.
Old Highlights with very old content — very early Instagram Stories (from years back) sometimes have lower native resolution simply because phone cameras and Instagram's own supported resolution were both lower back then. This isn't a downloader limitation — it's the original file quality.
Highlights being reorganized or renamed — if a creator edits their Highlights (renames one, removes a slide, merges two collections), previously copied links to individual slides may stop working since the underlying structure changed. If a link fails, go back to the profile and recopy from the current version.

Why Highlights are worth saving: unlike a Reel that might get buried in someone's grid, Highlights are often a creator's own curated "best of" — travel guides, recurring FAQs, tutorials — genuinely useful reference content that's easy to want to keep.
